After one year child should be given a variety of foods. Give your child seasonal fruits and vegetables. Your toddler needs 1,000 calories per day. You can breastfeed your baby till he is two years old. If the child does not like milk, fruit salads, cheese can be given. If you are breastfeeding the child, there is no need of extra milk. Too much milk and little food will make your baby anaemic. Give milk in a cup and avoid bottle. You can mix honey with milk. Do not give your baby unpasteurized milk.
2. Fruits And Vegetables
Give the child variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are rich in minerals and vitamins required for the growth of your child. You can give your child fruit juices. Cook vegetables and give it to your child. You can give vegetables in soup form. Do not give your child spicy ,oily, too sweet and too salty food. You can add sliced olives and pumpkin seeds to your baby food. Ensure that you remove the pits and seeds of the fruits before giving it to your baby.
3. Cold Drinks, Coffee, Chocolates
Chocolates, cold drinks and coffee should be avoided as these contain caffeine. You can give her a sweet treat once a week.
4. Eggs And High Protein Food
Make sure food rich in protein is given to your child. Food rich in protein are legumes, peas, eggs, beans and fish. Sprouts are very nutritious. Boil the eggs properly and give it your baby.
5. Iron Rich Food
Give your child iron rich food like spinach, beans. You can give her iron rich fortified cereal in the breakfast. Iron deficiency will affect their physical, mental and behavioural development. Give them healthy food, whenever they are hungry.
6. Foods To Avoid
Avoid giving your baby candies, whole grapes, raisins, nuts and pop corns. This may cause choking.
